Interview with Niels H. Sørensen Managing Director at UC.
UC was founded in Denmark in 2003, and today you are also active in Sweden and Norway, is that correct?
Yes it is true; we started in Denmark, and are still a 100% Danish company. However, we are expanding successfully to the rest of the Scandinavian market, and we have a huge knowledge about the Scandinavian market with all the different and nuances each country currently holds.
UC represents some leading suppliers of automation components, what characterizes them?
Basically all products that we represent are among the market leaders in their segment. We represent only suppliers who meet our strict criteria about quality, longevity, and reliability. Another thing that characterizes all of our suppliers is, that they produce the main part of their components themselves, and that their size is manageable. This ensures the direct and close contact, and is a major reason for our success.
The close and direct relation between you and your customers is probably just as imortant?
I fully agree! The close contact and dialogue means, that we always have our finger on the pulse, and able to grow with them. We see ourselves as the interface between our suppliers and customers. Only if we speak the language of both worlds, we are able to create customized solutions that help our clients to be successfully.
You offer both advice and sales?
Yes, both are closely interlinked. The demands from our customers, and especially from our customers’ customers, are becoming increasingly complex. Our customers demand and expect support and advice, and we can give them the support and advice about most tasks in the building of special machines, with our full range of “ready-to-build in” solutions
Does that mean you can build a complete custom machine of your components?
That is almost correct. Our customers can buy most of what it takes to build a special machine at UC, from the bigger parts as e.g. the base of the machine, to smaller parts e.g. shock absorbers, as individual components or as solutions, but we always strive to give the best possible advice to the current application, so we are sure that our customer has the best performance and solution. But we do not build complette special machines as our main customers are the leading machine builders in Scandinavia.
You have recently changed your name and logo?
There was some confusion about our current official logo and name, and we decided it was time to get it right. The new logo is well in line with our goals for the coming year we will expand our position as the market leader and innovator, not only in Denmark but throughout Scandinavia. The name United Components do this, and support our new appearance.ende.
